An integral part of supporting the development process is the optimization of the design parameters – e.g. finding the best parameters while sustaining the required stiffness and minimum weight of the structure. These automated techniques are more suitable for smaller models – e.g. for parts.
For larger models, primary complex assemblies, it is better to use sensitivity analysis or Design of Experiment (DOE) which reduce the number of iterations and help to understand the relationships between parameters and results.
